Amongst adopting somewhat of a new persona this year that being my “rebellious”teenaged phase (style wise and politically), I came to the realization that I have unintentionally adopted the style of my now ex-boyfriend. Before getting myself into a Relationship, I never understood exactly why anyone would want to wear their beau’s oversized jumper out in public but after a few months, I totally understood. And now here I am a few months later post- breakup I find myself sporting Black denim, leather jackets, band tees, doc martens, and plaid. (He was really into rock music, if I may add) I beared in mind however that I have referenced before many rock-stars and 90’s grunge style adverts while putting together ensembles and dressing myself in the morning pre-beau. But I suppose that you can say that I’m naturally slightly more attracted to a love interest if they have somewhat of an eclectic personal style or persona. I think it reflects a genuine sense of self and an authenticity. Anyways, here are some ways I like to put my personal feminine twists on the “boyfriend” style (no partner necessary),Hopefully you’ll find inspiration in your closet (and maybe someone else’s)because the love may be gone but, leather jackets are sure as hell are forever. And for those without sticky fingers (or male love interests with a lenient lending policy), there’s no shame in investing in some great menswear pieces for yourself.
