What defines the Sofia Coppola aesthetic? Is it the sublime use of soft and natural lighting? Is it the subtle pastels of the color pallet? Maybe the handheld camera that dizzily floats around the characters? All of these visual characteristics work together harmoniously to create Coppola’s distinct dreamlike atmosphere that she displays ever so strongly in her collaborations with the house of Dior. Let’s take a glimpse into her work.
Miss Dior Chérie (2010)

The super cute spring-like feel of traipsing through the cobblestone roads on a bike wearing a pastel dress makes me yearn for my spring break while the displayed macaroons in every shade of the rainbow with the Dior bottle as a comparable delicacy amongst them. As if to consolidate the idea of whose designer house the fragrance is, we also get to watch Maryna trying on dresses in bright, upbeat hues in the Christian Dior couture house. All accompanied by the ambiance of Bridget Bardot’s ever so playful “Moi Je Joue”

La Vie En Rose (2015)

The lovely Natalie Portman doing all the nice things girls get to do in commercials: lay on the couch, frolic around the yard, get kissed by a handsome man and stare pensively into space. Did I mention that she also gets to wear a frothy Dior dress? Dior ad campaigns sound like something straight out of my day dreams in which case, I suppose Dior was striving to accomplish. Well done

Miss Dior Chérie (2015)

Dior & Sofia once more have gotten Natalie Portman to flounce around a French apartment, bathing with her sunglasses on while Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin’s “Je T’aime Moi Non Plus” plays in the background. It's very much a perfume commercial, but it's also pretty effective. I suddenly want to douse myself in overpriced water.
