What we have here is the Prada short film directed by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola. The film delightfully pays homage to French New Wave love triangles (à la Truffaut’s Jules et Jim and Godard’s Bande à part) And plays within the spirit of Nouvelle Vague cinema to help it remain alive and well. It stars French actress and model Léa Seydoux as a beauty pursued by a couple of fashionable gents who happen to be best friends. Julius or Gene? Gene or Julius? It’s the most delicious of dilemmas. The filmmaking is exquisite, which perfectly suits the brand’s aesthetic. Wes Anderson’s style definitely stays true with the incorporation of whimsical characters & perfectly symmetrical stills. A charming, self-deprecating story, with no fewer than three explicit brand plugs—one for each of its mini acts. Well done. Join Candy as she takes you on a playful voyage of seduction, rivalry and birthday cake. Cinema is a feast for the senses.
